Today, our solutions are used by more than 5,000 teams around the world, including organisations across the NFL, NBA, NHL, MLS, EPL, AFL, NRL, NCAA and many more.Our technology brings together wearable data, digital video and athlete information to help coaches, sports scientists, performance staff and athletes understand what is happening, make better decisions and improve performance.We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer with strong Golang experience to join our engineering team in Boston and help build the next generation of our cloud platform.This is a hands-on engineering role where you will work with Golang, distributed systems, AWS, APIs and data to build scalable services used by some of the world's leading sporting organisations.If you enjoy solving complex engineering problems, taking ownership of systems and seeing your work have a real impact, this is an opportunity to do that while working alongside a great engineering team in Boston.The OpportunityYou will play a key role in planning, designing, building and testing features for our next-generation cloud platform.Our platform combines digital video, wearable data and athlete information to provide insights and analytics to coaches, support staff, sports scientists and athletes. The systems you build will help customers make informed decisions about athlete health, readiness and performance.Golang is essential to this role.

You will design, build and maintain production-grade Go services as part of a growing backend platform.You will have ownership across the development lifecycle, from understanding the problem and contributing to technical design through to implementation, testing, deployment and ongoing improvement.You will work on a range of engineering challenges across distributed services, APIs, cloud infrastructure, data platforms, authentication, authorisation, entitlements and licensing.We are looking for someone who enjoys getting into the detail, is comfortable making technical decisions and wants to have a meaningful influence on both the software we build and how we build it.What You'll DoDesign, build and maintain scalable, reliable and maintainable services in GolangContribute to the architecture and technical direction of our cloud platformTake ownership of services and features from planning and design through to productionSolve complex engineering problems across distributed systems, APIs, data and cloud infrastructureHelp drive code quality, engineering standards and best practices across the development lifecycleParticipate in technical design discussions, architecture reviews and code reviewsContribute to our test strategy and write high-quality automated testsImprove automation and engineering processes to support reliable and efficient deliveryWork closely with engineers and other teams to understand customer needs and develop effective technical solutionsIdentify opportunities to improve our systems, processes and developer productivityShare knowledge and contribute to the development of the wider engineering teamTake ownership of problems and outcomes while working collaboratively with colleagues across our global organisationWhat You'll BringEssentialStrong professional experience with Golang5+ years' recent experience delivering multiple scalable services into productionExperience designing, building and operating production-grade backend servicesExperience working with cloud-based and distributed systemsExperience with AWS, ideally including ECS, EC2, Lambda, SNS and SQSWorking knowledge of containerisationExperience with CI/CD automation and modern software delivery practicesWorking knowledge of REST, GraphQL and/or gRPCExperience working with databases such as Postgres and/or MongoDBA strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including testing, reliability, maintainability and code qualityA willingness to take ownership, contribute ideas and continuously improveIt would be great if you also haveExperience working with high-volume data platforms or distributed data systemsExperience with event-driven architectures and messaging systemsExperience with authentication, authorisation, identity or entitlement systemsExperience building systems that operate across cloud and edge environmentsExperience working with video, telemetry, sensor or time-series dataExperience in a high-growth product or SaaS environmentAn interest in sports, performance technology or dataWhat Success Looks LikeIn 6 monthsYou will have a strong understanding of our platform, architecture and engineering practices and will be confidently owning one or more Go microservices.You will be shipping production changes across our backend services and contributing to areas such as our unified entitlement and licensing system, distributed data platform and authentication systems.You will also have built strong relationships with the engineering team in Boston and colleagues across our global engineering organisation.In 12 monthsYou will be leading the architectural design of a significant subsystem, taking a problem from initial design through to production across our Go service estate.You will be contributing to how we evolve our federation patterns, offline-first edge architecture, data and entitlement models, as well as the APIs and services that support our client applications and third-party integrations.You will be a trusted senior technical contributor who delivers high-quality software, takes ownership of complex problems and helps raise the engineering capability of the wider team.Why Catapult?Work on technology that has an impactThe systems you build will be used by some of the world's leading sporting organisations.Our technology helps teams understand athlete performance, monitor workload and readiness, analyse video and make better decisions.
