Senior Software Engineer - Custom Government Engineering Team

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to manage the Akamai cloud storage solution, NetStorage, within the public sector and work closely with various groups to support and improve our existing product offerings. The role partners closely with Operations and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) teams in a highly collaborative environment to deploy, operate, and continuously improve secure, resilient, and high-performance Application Delivery Networks.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a lead in design, development, testing, implementation, maintenance, and support of the NetStorage ecosystem.
  • Lead the integration of NetStorage into the Public Sector enterprise environment.
  • Research and implement new storage features.
  • Act as a technical resource to assist in escalations.
  • Work with other internal development teams to solve platform problems.
  • Maintain, enhance, and develop tools and testing frameworks.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of related experience and a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Experience with CouchDB, NoSQL database design, and data synchronization.
  • Experience in system administration and software development.
  • Experience with scripting languages (Shell, Perl, Python, etc.) and hands‑on work in Linux/Unix.
  • Familiarity with cloud storage concepts and data management replication concepts.
  • Experience with Git/Perforce and version control systems.
  • Team player who thrives in a collaborative environment.
  • Currently maintain (or have maintained within the past 24 months) eligibility for access to U.S. Government Secret information, based on a successfully adjudicated U.S. Government Tier 3 background investigation.

Compensation

For U.S. based candidates, the base salary ranges from $121,400 to $218,600 per year. Compensation is determined by relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and location. The package may include incentive compensation, equity awards, and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Benefits include healthcare, 401(k), company holidays, PTO, sick time, parental leave, and an employee assistance program.
