Our client is an established, profitable, privately held B2B SaaS company serving commercial transportation and aftermarket operations across North America. Its software is deeply embedded in customers’ daily workflows, supporting the data, processes, integrations, and real-time decisions behind high-volume, multi-location businesses.
The company is investing in a new, cloud-native platform while thoughtfully modernizing legacy systems. The product supports mission-critical workflows across parts, service, sales, finance, inventory, and warehouse operations. This is a rare senior IC opportunity to help architect and build that future: shaping the product, technical standards, and AI-augmented engineering practices from the inside.
You will join a collaborative engineering organization where curiosity, systems thinking, self-motivation, and practical experimentation matter as much as specific tools.
What you will do
- Architect and build cloud-native applications, services, and front-end experiences for a greenfield platform.
- Own service topology, contracts, failure modes, and integration patterns across managed cloud services, event-driven systems, and real-time experiences.
- Use modern AI coding assistants to translate product intent into well-structured software, establishing architectural guardrails and maintaining a high bar for design, accessibility, security, and user experience.
- Improve the AI‑augmented development lifecycle through better prompts, context, evaluation approaches, and agentic workflows.
- Review code with judgment: identify architectural drift, security gaps, incorrect AI‑generated output, and subtle quality issues that automated checks may miss.
- Own observability, reliability, and performance for cloud‑hosted services; diagnose production issues that require cross‑system reasoning.
- Help set technical direction and mentor peers in effective, responsible AI‑assisted engineering practices.
What you bring
- 6+ years of software engineering experience in modern, cloud‑based, and B2B SaaS product environment. Candidates with 4+ years of unusually deep, relevant experience are also encouraged to apply.
- A strong systems mindset and experience designing cloud‑native solutions with managed hosting, serverless compute, APIs, managed databases, messaging, and streaming patterns.
- Hands‑on experience with modern software design, API development, secure service‑to‑service communication, data modeling, and the ability to reason carefully about existing and legacy codebases.
- Experience with containerized deployments, infrastructure practices, CI/CD, and production operations in cloud environments.
- Confidence reading, evaluating, and refining AI‑generated code—combining enthusiasm for new tools with sound engineering judgment.
- Experience leading or supporting migration from monolithic, on‑premises applications to distributed cloud‑native architectures is a strong plus.
- BSCS degree is preferred, not required; demonstrated engineering depth and a record of building durable systems matter most.
- TypeScript and Node.js, with React across the full stack
- REST APIs, web services, WebSockets, and real‑time messaging
- Message queues, service‑bus patterns, and event‑driven architecture
- Relational databases, SQL, Redis, and caching
- Docker, Kubernetes, Linux, CI/CD, Git, and infrastructure as code
- Open‑source‑first technologies and AI‑assisted development workflows
