Senior Software Engineer – Cutlass Software Lead
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of 3+ junior engineers on multi‑quarter projects.
- Take high‑level requirements, refine them into design documents, obtain reviews, plan, and execute with minimal oversight.
- Provide an effective technical and business interface between the team, other teams, and leaders.
- Collaborate with the Director of Engineering, Machine Learning Lead, and Data Science Lead to set direction for Cutlass.
- Influence the technology stack, architecture, engineering culture, and overall company trajectory.
- Work onsite to establish engineering culture and travel domestically and internationally multiple times a quarter.
Qualifications
- Experience coaching and mentoring junior engineers on code quality, version control best practices, testing, and general software engineering skills.
- Experience writing and reviewing design documents.
- Strong organizational, planning, and communication skills.
- Must be capable of obtaining a DoD security clearance.
- Proficiency with Python.
- Experience with Docker or other OCI software.
- Experience with time‑sensitive software (embedded devices, safety‑critical systems, operating systems, media software, etc).
- Experience interfacing Python with other languages (language bindings, SWIG, Boost Python, etc).
- Experience with a compiled programming language, preferably C, C++ or Rust.
- Experience with machine learning.
- Experience with ffmpeg or video transcoding.
- Experience with optics or applied math.
- Experience with Nuitka or other Python compilation.
- Experience with multiprocess Python.
- Experience with TypeScript.
- Experience with Node.js.
- Experience with LLVM.
