I'm working with a fast-growing applied AI company building real agents that do real work in the real economy. Their agents operate for hours at a time, performing end-to-end work for some of the largest accounting firms in the world.

About the company

They have raised over $100M at a >$1B valuation and are backed by top-tier VCs. They're racing to deploy the most advanced applied ML at production scale, and are recognised by leading AI labs as being on the frontier of building production-grade, long-horizon agents.

About the role

As a Member of Technical Staff, you won't sit on a static functional team - you'll join a pod that reforms every quarter around the company's highest-priority objectives. One week you might be designing the context ontology for an agent; the next you're building the data pipelines that hydrate agent state. It's common to move between core infra and product agent work quarter to quarter, and equally common to specialise deeply in one area over time.

Problems you'll think about

• How do we manage agent state over long horizons, and how much agency should an agent have over its own data state?
• At what level of abstraction should we design tools for agents - and how does that answer change as models get smarter?
• How do we extract dense signal from a five-hour agent trajectory spanning thousands of decisions?
• How do we engineer a monorepo to be more ergonomic for agents, and keep human code review focused on real technical judgment rather than correcting slop?

What you'll need

• Strong first-principles and systems thinking - most of the problems are net new, with no existing playbook
• Genuine curiosity about the underlying domain and workflows your agents operate in, not just the code
• A track record of owning outcomes end-to-end, not just tasks
• High agency - comfortable chasing down context, talking to the right people, and making calls with incomplete information
• Excitement about working daily with coding agents (unlimited token budget provided)
