Fusion Power EngineerWe are a fusion power company based in Everett, WA, with the mission to build the world's first fusion power plant, enabling a future with unlimited clean electricity. Our current prototype, Polaris, has reached record-breaking plasma temperatures of 150 million degrees Celsius (13 keV). Helion is continuing to iterate and on the path to the world's first fusion power plant, Orion. This is a pivotal time to join Helion.

You will tackle real-world challenges with a team that prizes urgency, rigor, ownership, and a commitment to delivering hard truths – values essential to achieving what no one has before. Together, we will change the future of energy, because the world can't wait.You will drive the design and development of cutting-edge semiconductors for high-performance pulsed power systems used in Helion's fusion generators. You will work in a fast-paced environment to develop, test, and implement high-reliability, high-efficiency switching components, with a strong emphasis on rapid development cycles.

You will report directly to our Senior Manager of Electrical Engineering, and this is an onsite role located at our Everett, WA office.You will:Spearhead efforts to gather and utilize requirements for switching components and apply them toward design of physical productsDrive the design and development of novel pulsed power electronics components and systems, focusing on high-efficiency, high-reliability semiconductor solutionsCollaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure integration of electrical, mechanical, and physics-based principles in semiconductor developmentLead development cycles, including hands-on prototyping, small-scale testing, and large-scale performance validationConduct simulations, testing, and analysis to validate designs and iterate quickly using data-backed decision makingStay informed on emerging semiconductor materials, device architectures, and industry trendsDocument design processes, specifications, test results, and findings for continuous improvement and knowledge sharingRequired skills:Bachelor's, Master's, or higher degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field8+ years of experience in power electronics and high voltage semiconductor designStrong foundation in semiconductor physics, power electronics, and circuit design principlesProven experience with rapid prototyping and development cycles in a high-tech environmentBackground working with semiconductor fabricators to manufacture semiconductor devicesProficiency with simulation tools and test equipment for power electronicsOur total compensation package includes benefits, including but not limited to:Medical, Dental, and Vision plans for employees and their families31 Days of PTO (21 vacation days and 10 sick days)10 Paid holidays, plus company-wide winter breakUp to 5% employer 401(k) matchShort term disability, long term disability, and life insurancePaid parental leave and support (up to 16 weeks)Annual wellness stipendHelion is an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company.
