Judo Bio is pioneering oligonucleotide medicines delivered to the kidney, opening the way for new RNA medicines for systemic and renal diseases. With our STRIKE (Selectively Targeting RNA Into KidnEy) platform, we use a proprietary approach that harnesses a natural, endogenous mechanism to target oligonucleotide medicines to the kidney.

Role Summary

Judo Bio is seeking a Senior Scientist to lead bioanalytical assay development and biomarker strategy in support of our siRNA discovery and nonclinical development programs. This role is equal parts bench scientist and program-level strategist: you will personally develop and run LC-MS/MS and chromatographic methods for oligonucleotide and small-molecule quantitation, while also managing external CRO relationships that generate GLP-adjacent and GLP bioanalytical data supporting IND-enabling studies. You will partner closely with DMPK, Pharmacology, Toxicology, and Regulatory to ensure bioanalytical and biomarker data packages are scientifically rigorous and regulatory-ready for first-in-human (FIH) filings.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, optimize, and qualify LC-MS/MS and chromatographic (HPLC/UPLC/FPLC/IEC) assays for quantitation of siRNA oligonucleotides, metabolites/fragments, and small-molecule conjugation partners or linker components in plasma, tissue, and other biological matrices.
• Lead hands-on bench work including method development, sample preparation, extraction, and instrument operation/troubleshooting on mass spectrometry and chromatography platforms.
• Develop and implement targeted proteomics or other biomarker assays to support pharmacodynamic (PD) readouts and strengthen PK/PD and exposure-response relationships across nonclinical programs.
• Serve as primary technical point of contact and day-to-day manager for bioanalytical CROs, including method transfer, protocol review, data review/QC, timeline management, and troubleshooting to ensure high-quality, regulatory-ready data packages.
• Author and contribute to bioanalytical and biomarker sections of nonclinical regulatory documents (e.g., IND Module 2.4/2.6, study reports, briefing documents) in collaboration with Regulatory Affairs and nonclinical leadership.
• Partner with DMPK, Toxicology, and Pharmacology teams to design bioanalytical and biomarker strategies for GLP toxicology studies and FIH-enabling packages, including matrix selection, assay validation strategy, and sample logistics planning.
• Independently analyze, interpret, and present complex analytical data to inform program-level nonclinical decision-making, candidate selection, and study design.
• Maintain instrumentation (mass spectrometers, HPLC/UPLC systems, fraction collectors) to ensure operational reliability and data integrity; establish and enforce performance-qualification standards internally and at CRO sites.
• Contribute to the build-out of internal bioanalytical capabilities and SOPs as Judo scales its nonclinical development organization.

Required Qualifications

• Ph.D. in analytical/bioanalytical chemistry, biochemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, or a related discipline (or M.S. with equivalent hands‑on industry experience).
• 5+ years of hands‑on bioanalytical experience developing and qualifying LC‑MS/MS assays, with demonstrated expertise across both oligonucleotide (e.g., siRNA, ASO, or other modified nucleic acid) and small‑molecule matrices.
• Deep hands‑on proficiency with nanoLC‑MS/MS, HRMS, and chromatographic separations (RP‑HPLC, UPLC, FPLC, IEC) including method optimization and system suitability.
• Direct experience managing or closely overseeing CRO-generated bioanalytical data, including protocol/report review and troubleshooting, in support of nonclinical or IND‑enabling studies.
• Working knowledge of PK/PD bioanalysis and biomarker assay development (e.g., targeted or bottom‑up proteomics) to support pharmacodynamic and mechanistic endpoints.
• Familiarity with regulatory expectations for nonclinical bioanalytical data supporting IND submissions and FIH study design (e.g., contributing to Module 2.4/2.6 content).
• Strong data analysis, interpretation, and technical writing skills; ability to communicate complex analytical findings clearly to cross‑functional and leadership audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience at a biotech developing RNAi, ASO, or other oligonucleotide-based therapeutics.
• Experience with oligonucleotide purification and characterization of chemically modified nucleic acid constructs.
• Experience contributing to GLP or GLP‑adjacent bioanalytical method validation.
• Track record of peer‑reviewed publications and/or mentorship of junior scientists.
• Proficiency with Chromeleon, XCalibur, TraceFinder, Skyline, GraphPad Prism, and/or Mascot/Proteome Discoverer.
