Overview

We are seeking an experienced Scientist / Senior Scientist to join an analytical development team supporting the development and characterization of particulate-based drug delivery systems , including microspheres, nanoparticles, and lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) for nucleic acid delivery.

This is a hands-on role suited to an analytical scientist with strong experience in method development, analytical characterization, method validation and transfer , who enjoys working across multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

You will be responsible for developing and executing analytical methods to assess critical product attributes including particle size, API content, encapsulation efficiency, nucleic acid quantification and integrity, in vitro release and dissolution . The role also offers significant exposure to cross-functional collaboration, client interaction, project management, and mentoring junior scientists.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and execute analytical methods to support early-stage drug development and product characterization.
• Perform routine and non-routine analytical testing of particulate-based drug delivery systems, including microspheres, nanoparticles, and LNPs.
• Lead or contribute to method development, validation, qualification, and transfer activities .
• Characterize products using a range of analytical techniques, including:
• HPLC / UPLC
• Capillary electrophoresis
• UV/Vis and fluorescence-based assays
• RiboGreen, PicoGreen and other microplate-based assays
• Particle size analysis
• Dissolution and in vitro release testing
• API and lipid quantification
• Residual moisture and osmolality
• Syringeability / injectability testing
• Troubleshoot analytical methods, instrumentation, and laboratory issues, providing effective technical solutions.
• Analyze, interpret, trend, and report analytical data, ensuring scientific accuracy and data integrity.
• Design and execute in vitro release and stability studies to support product development.
• Prepare, review, and approve technical documentation including analytical methods, SOPs, protocols, reports, and study documentation.
• Maintain accurate laboratory records and ensure work is conducted in accordance with applicable procedures and safety requirements.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams including Operations, Analytical Services, and Process Development .
• Engage directly with clients to understand project objectives, recommend analytical approaches, communicate results, and support project delivery.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring work is appropriately scoped and delivered against agreed timelines.
• Mentor and train junior scientists and analysts in analytical techniques, instrumentation, and laboratory practices.
• Contribute to the expansion of analytical capabilities through recommendations for new methodologies, services, and instrumentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences , or a related scientific discipline with approximately 10+ years of relevant industry experience ; or
• Master's degree with approximately 7+ years of relevant experience ; or
• PhD with approximately 2–5+ years of relevant industry experience .
• Strong hands-on experience in analytical method development within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, drug delivery, or a related environment.
• Experience with complex analytical testing and data analysis .
• Strong knowledge of analytical instrumentation and the ability to independently troubleshoot technical issues.
• Experience working with HPLC/UPLC, CE, dissolution or in vitro release testing .
• Strong scientific understanding of analytical characterization and product development.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience mentoring, training, or providing technical guidance to junior team members is highly desirable.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Experience

The following experience would be particularly valuable:

• Analytical development for drug delivery systems, nanoparticles, microspheres, or lipid nanoparticles .
• Experience with nucleic acid therapeutics , including mRNA or other RNA-based modalities.
• Fluorescent microplate-based assays such as RiboGreen or PicoGreen .
• Chromatography, spectroscopy, electrophoresis, and wet chemistry techniques.
• Particle size characterization and dissolution / in vitro release testing.
• Analytical method transfer and validation.
• Experience supporting early-stage drug development and client-facing projects .
• Experience with instruments including HPLC/UPLC, UV/Vis, fluorescence or multimode microplate readers, dissolution apparatus, and particle size analyzers.
