The organization is seeking a Senior SCADA Technician to test, install, and maintain Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems. This role provides essential technical support to system operations, engineering groups, and customers in the development and implementation of SCADA solutions. The position requires deep expertise in managing complex automation and control systems to ensure reliability and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage complex projects involving system operations, generation, engineering, telecommunications, and network services. Act as the primary field contact for all SCADA-related coordination.
  • Perform advanced testing, installation, and maintenance of SCADA systems, including remote terminal units (RTUs), hardware input/output modules, controllers, human-machine interfaces (HMIs), networks, communication, databases, and software.
  • Provide technical expertise in monitoring, troubleshooting, and programming SCADA and communication systems.
  • Assist with the installation and troubleshooting of computer hardware and software as needed.
  • Support the installation of additional electrical system equipment.
  • Document SCADA, communication, and IT systems processes and configurations.
  • Independently perform maintenance and installation tasks on network-related equipment such as routers, switches, network interface cards, and serial to IP transceivers.
  • Integrate and test various devices including RTUs, protective relay devices, meters, and HMIs into remote access/configuration networks for operational capabilities and distance-to-fault (D2F) monitoring.
  • Maintain and archive relay event records in compliance with relevant protocols.

Required Qualifications

  • Five or more years of experience in construction and/or maintenance of power substation protection, SCADA, diagnostic, metering, monitoring, or control systems, or relevant experience.
  • Degree(s) in electrical power theory, electronics, instrumentation, controls, computer science, or a related field (or equivalent relevant experience, as per organizational guidelines).
  • Valid driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of substation equipment.
  • Understanding of electrical control, metering, and protective relaying schemes.
  • Familiarity with Remote Terminal Units, revenue meters, and protective relays.
  • Experience with network and local area network (LAN) operations.
  • Solid understanding of alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC) electricity fundamentals.
  • Knowledge of communication protocols such as Modbus, DNP 3.0, and others.
