Our client builds general-purpose mobile manipulator robots for industrial applications, deployed across logistics, retail, and manufacturing for tasks like truck unloading, mobile palletizing, and machine tending. The robots run on a proprietary industrial physical intelligence system with a modular architecture designed to generalize across applications without reprogramming. Company identity is withheld at this stage.
The Role
We're seeking a Senior Robotics software engineer with deep technical range across perception, planning, controls, manipulation, and hardware integration. This role owns robot reliability and diagnostics end to end — investigating hard failures in real-world deployments, determining true root cause, and driving fixes directly into the codebase or onto the robot.
What You'll Do
- Own robot reliability across dev, test, and customer environments; lead investigation of complex, cross-subsystem field issues.
- Diagnose whether root cause is software, hardware, calibration, configuration, or process — using logs, telemetry, replay tools, simulation, and physical robots.
- Reproduce even intermittent, hard-to-catch failures with repeatable methods.
- Fix cross-cutting issues directly in the codebase (hands-on: you own the change through review and merge); route single-team issues with a fully root-caused diagnosis.
- Prevent recurrence through validation, regression testing, and systematic elimination of recurring failure patterns.
Required Skills
- 3+ years building or debugging production software for physical or real-time systems.
- Experience keeping such systems reliable in production (on-call, incident response, reducing recurring failures).
- Strong modern C++ and Python — hands-on coding, not coordination-only.
- A root-cause mindset — you dig past symptoms and surface failure patterns before they become incidents.
Nice to Have
- Robotics middleware, motion planning, or manipulation experience.
- Mobile manipulation or warehouse/logistics automation background.
