Senior Roadway Design Project ManagerWe are seeking a Senior Roadway Design Project Manager to lead and manage NCDOT and municipal roadway design projects from planning and preliminary engineering through final design and construction support. This role emphasizes overall project management, quality assurance, client relationship management, and staff mentorship, while maintaining technical oversight of roadway design deliverables.The Senior Roadway Design Project Manager will serve as the primary point of contact for clients and agencies, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with NCDOT standards and contractual requirements.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Manage roadway and highway design projects for NCDOT and municipal clients, including scope, schedule, budget, and resource planningServe as primary client and agency liaison; lead coordination with NCDOT, municipalities, subconsultants, and stakeholdersOversee development of roadway design deliverables, ensuring technical quality and consistency with agency standardsLead and implement quality control and quality assurance (QC/QA) processes throughout project lifecyclesCoordinate multidisciplinary teams including roadway, drainage, traffic, structures, utilities, survey, and environmental staffMentor junior engineers and project staff; support staff development, performance feedback, and workload planningReview and approve design calculations, plan sets, and supporting documentationSupport proposal development, fee estimates, contract negotiations, and business development effortsMonitor project risks, manage changes, and proactively address issues that may impact deliveryParticipate in public meetings, agency reviews, and project presentations as requiredQualificationsMinimum Requirements:Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, or related field plus 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or educationProfessional Engineer (PE) license in North Carolina or ability to obtain reciprocity within 6 months6 years of roadway design experience, including exposure to DOT or municipal projects.Valid US Driver's License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices.
