Jacobs is looking for a Senior Resident Engineer (MEP) to join our team in the Atlanta, GA office. In this role you will be the manager of large-scale complex construction contracts responsible for coordinating efforts of the contractors during construction, closeout, and occupancy.
nResponsible for coordinating the efforts of the contractors.
nResponsible for evaluating the progress and quality of construction activities in conformance with approved schedules and budgets.
nReview and approval of progress payments.
nMonitor and supervise the field coordination and inspection.
nReview bid package documents as issued by design consultants for constructability, omissions, clarifications required, and for coordination between design disciplines. Recommend changes as required.
nReview all construction documents against design development documents for scope, schedule and budget conformance.
nReview General Conditions to suit each bid package and oversee performance.
nAssist the client and Project Manager at pre-bid meetings and pre-construction meetings.
nExpedite resolution of construction problems.
nMonitor and manage all field directives.
nObtain Daily Reports from all contractors. Prepare Resident Engineer’s Weekly Report.
nOversee Quality Assurance Program for each assigned contract in concert with the Quality Assurance Manager. Monitor design consultant inspections.
nEstablish and conduct weekly construction meetings.
nManage schedule updates, provide and approve any logic changes.
nAdminister construction contracts for assigned contracts.
nReview, approve, and certify contractor requests for payment.
nDetermine that insurance, bonding and contracts requirements are properly executed and maintained.
nCoordinate separate contractors’ lay down areas, office locations, and equipment placements.
nCoordinate construction interface with local utilities through the Utility/Agency Coordinator.
nOversee negotiation, preparation of and review all Change Orders.
nOversee project close out and client occupancy.
nOther tasks as may be assigned.
nMinimum of 15 years’ experience in the administration of construction contracts and in the inspection of construction work in the field. Must have worked on a relevant construction project in a minimum capacity of Resident Engineer.
nMinimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, preferably mechanical or electrical.
nDemonstrated knowledge of multiple project delivery methods, including but not limited to Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, and CMR contracts and their execution.
nKnowledge of and experience in reviewing and understanding a contractor’s Safety Plan and QC Plan. Must also have experience in reviewing and overseeing a Document Control Plan, and development/utilization of a Project Procedures Manual.
nPrevious experience directing, coordinating, and supervising a CM field staff including multiple Resident Engineers, Assistant Resident Engineers, Project/Office Engineers, Document Control Clerks, and Field Inspectors.
nKnowledge of scheduling, spreadsheet, document, and database software (such as PMWeb, P6, Microsoft Office package, and others).
