A privately funded, acquisition-focused oil and gas company based in Texas is seeking a highly capable Senior Reservoir Engineer to support its technical evaluations, reserves reporting, and ongoing asset management. This role is best suited for an experienced engineer who is comfortable working in a small team environment and contributing directly to high-value acquisition and portfolio decisions.

The company’s strategy centers on acquiring non-operated working interests and mineral assets, primarily in the Permian Basin, with potential to expand into other major basins across the Lower 48.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform technical evaluations for acquisition and divestiture opportunities using tools like ComboCurve and Spotfire
  • Maintain and update internal reserves databases and production forecasts
  • Analyze LOE, price differentials, capital expenditures, and other key inputs for accurate asset modeling
  • Prepare full-cycle reserve reports for internal use, investor updates, and third-party audits
  • Collaborate closely with land and finance teams to assess asset value drivers and regional economics
  • Conduct offset well analysis and regional studies to support screening and strategy
  • Regularly interface with operators to ensure timely and accurate data sharing
  • Incorporate historical performance lookbacks into forecast calibration

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering or a related technical/quantitative field
  • Minimum 8 years of industry experience, with a focus on reserves analysis, production forecasting, and economic evaluation
  • Proficient with ComboCurve (or similar platforms such as ARIES or PHDWin), Spotfire, and data from Enverus, IHS, or public regulatory databases
  • Comfortable managing multiple workflows and shifting priorities in a small, collaborative team
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail
  • Delaware Basin experience and familiarity with non-operated portfolios are preferred
  • Programming experience (e.g., Python, VBA) and GIS knowledge are a plus

This position offers meaningful exposure to executive leadership and direct impact on corporate strategy. Ideal candidates will demonstrate strong technical ability, independent problem-solving skills, and a willingness to take ownership of complex projects.
