The individual should demonstrate leadership roles in theactivities of multiple recognized professional technical societies,government advisory boards, as well as active participation ininternational symposia and congresses.
The individual should demonstrate a minimum of 15 years ofexperience leading a multidisciplinary research and developmentgroup. This includes a track record of recruiting, leading,developing, evaluating, and maintaining high-quality research staffand students, as well as an ability to mentor and encourage staffprofessional development.
The individual should demonstrate a minimum of 15 years ofexperience maintaining key sponsor relationships for programbreadth, depth, viability and external recognition. This includesidentifying and developing new business opportunities forattracting research funding necessary to support a majormultidisciplinary research and development group.
The individual should demonstrate a minimum of 15 years ofexperience in performing program management functions. Thesefunctions include, but are not limited to, employee administrationsuch as payroll, resource and staffing allocations, evaluations,hiring and disciplinary actions; research task administration fromproposals through deliverables and compliance with policies andprocedures.
Job Responsibilities:
The candidate shall act in a leadership role in testplanning and execution within the High-Speed Aeroacoustics ResearchGroup (HSAG) by fostering a culture of communication andcoordinating team efforts to deploy diagnostics, operate testprograms, and analyze and produce data products. The candidateshall team with the other researchers to grow and broadenthe aeroacoustics research activities at The University ofMississippi. The candidate shall demonstrate excellence inacademic research evidenced by attainment of a nationalreputation for successful research in a specific area and activeparticipation in recognized professional societies of relevance.The candidate shall utilize modern testing techniques tomeasure and characterize complex flow fields and aeroacousticsrelated phenomena. The candidate shall interact with externalcustomers and partners to increase research productivity andadvance research goals. The candidate shall seek to advanceNCPA’s mission through contributions to infrastructuremodernization, implementation of novel diagnostic techniques,intellectual property development, and growth of externalpartnerships and academic collaborations. The candidate will beexpected to develop and sustain extramural funding forresearch efforts commensurate with their expertise and mentorgraduate students on related research projects.
Minimum Qualifications (education and experience) :
Demonstrated proficiency in the practice of modern fluid-mechanicsmeasurements (e.g. PIV, LDV, LDA, DIC, PLIF, Shack-Hartmann, hotwire arrays, microphone arrays, Kulites, etc.).
Demonstrated familiarity with correlation-based analytical methods(e.g. wavenumber-frequency decomposition, POD, wave-packetanalysis, array processing).
M inimum of 15 years of experience.
The selected candidate must be eligible to obtain a U.S. SecurityClearance.
Possession of a Ph.D. in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering,Chemical Engineering, Engineering Science, Applied Physics, or aclosely related field.
