This role focuses on research and development of new products, innovation, and process improvements. It involves supporting the development of new products and innovation, including clinical research roles. Positions in this family perform basic, translational, and/or clinical research aimed at solving specific problems for an entity or community. The role is that of a professional individual contributor, potentially directing or managing processes and programs, with most of the time spent overseeing design, implementation, or delivery of processes, programs, and policies using specialized knowledge typically acquired through advanced education. It is a specialist level role, recognized as a subject matter expert, managing large projects or processes with limited oversight, resolving complex problems.

This position assists in research activities under supervision, working as part of the core staff to perform routine programmatic functions or research procedures with proper documentation. The role involves designing and performing research activities independently and collaboratively to achieve research objectives as directed by the Principal Investigator.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Doctoral Degree OR Master’s Degree OR Bachelor’s Degree AND two (2) years of related experience.
  • Five (5) years of experience in a research environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Seven (7) years of research experience in multi-institutional observational studies and clinical trials.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and optimize project methods and protocols to meet research objectives.
  • Interpret experimental data and unusual findings.
  • Present research data summaries in group meetings.
  • Perform research activities aligned with goals set by the Principal Investigator.
  • Maintain detailed, organized, and clear research records and databases.
  • Support investigators in developing research proposals and manuscripts.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of research studies, including grant maintenance, budget review, and data collection.
  • Supervise Research Assistants and Administrative Assistants.
  • Organize complex data collection efforts and manage data files.
  • Coordinate multiple research projects, delegating tasks and setting agendas.
  • Conduct literature searches and participate in manuscript writing.
  • Supervise interns and junior staff as needed.
  • Assist in grant development and oversee database updates.
  • Participate in data review and consult on future program directions.

Physical Requirements:

  • Largely sedentary role involving sitting, with movements like walking and reaching.
  • Requires speaking, hearing, and communication skills.
  • Ability to see and read computer displays and fine print.
  • Manual dexterity for operating office equipment.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Expertise in medical literature searching and retrieval.
  • Proficiency in internet-based searching.
  • Computer skills in Word, Excel, Access, and reference software like Endnote.
  • High attention to detail and precision.
  • Team participation and self-motivation.
