Job Summary
The National Incident Response Team (NIRT) of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond seeks a Senior or Lead Red Team Cybersecurity Specialist to join its Adversary Emulation team. The role focuses on red‑team engagements to assess the cyber security posture of people, processes and technology across the Federal Reserve System.
Responsibilities
- Covertly exploit vulnerabilities, misconfigurations and weaknesses to improve security posture.
- Integrate AI‑powered tools into red‑team workflows and develop attack scenarios to assess resilience against AI related threats.
- Lead covert offensive security assessment activities across all stages of the cyber kill chain.
- Develop junior talent and share knowledge across the organization.
- Improve operational efficiency by evaluating and building workflow processes, automation and tooling.
- Envision, propose and implement cross‑team initiatives for cybersecurity improvements.
- Perform cybersecurity and operator duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- At least 6 years of information security experience, with expertise in computer network exploitation, post‑exploitation and adversary emulation.
- Subject‑matter expert on attack planning, threat‑modeling, reconnaissance, social engineering, exploitation, post‑exploitation, covert techniques, lateral movement, attack infrastructure and data exfiltration.
- Proficient in on‑the‑wire red‑team testing, malware/payload development, offensive security in cloud and on‑prem environments, advanced C2 infrastructure and advanced Active Directory attacks.
- Team‑leader with a collaborative and consultative approach.
- Excellent communication skills for technical and executive audiences.
- Experience managing client relationships and demonstrating quality results.
- Proficiency in scripting/programming (Python, PowerShell, Go, or C#) and the ability to create and customize tools.
Other Requirements
- Remote role; must be located within a 2‑hour commute of a district reserve bank for occasional in‑office meetings.
- Candidate must hold US citizenship and be eligible for a top‑secret security clearance (Secret or Top Secret).
- Sponsorship is not available for this role.
- Compliance with the Bank’s Code of Conduct is required.
