Location: Remote (US) | Type: Contract | Experience: 7+ years | Pay: $60-$70/hr

About the Role

You'll own delivery on large, multi-workstream cloud engagements, the kind where the budget is significant, the stakeholders are senior, and a slipped milestone gets noticed fast. This is a role for a project manager who can run a kickoff, read a burn report, and walk a customer executive through a change order all in the same week.

You'll be working with an AWS-focused cloud consulting firm that helps public sector and commercial organizations migrate and modernize their technology. Their project management office is the group engineers and account leads turn to when an engagement has to land, and you'll be one of the senior people setting that standard.

Most of your influence will come from credibility rather than title. If you're good at getting cross-functional teams to commit and follow through without being their manager, you'll do well here.

What You'll Do

• Run engagements end to end using Scrum or hybrid delivery, from kickoff through close-out
• Hold weekly checkpoints and send status reports customers actually read
• Track hours burned against forecast, and raise budget, scope, or timeline risk to leadership and the account executive the moment you see it
• Coordinate staffing across workstreams and sort out resource conflicts before they slow the work
• Serve as the escalation point when a customer concern or delivery risk comes up
• Negotiate timeline adjustments, write change orders, and agree with the customer on a clear definition of done for each deliverable
• Build level-of-effort and duration estimates that leadership and sales use to price new work
• Keep the team current on time entry and approve submissions promptly
• Coach less experienced PMs on delivery, stakeholder management, and leading without authority
• Keep partner and vendor teams in the loop, and pass follow-on opportunities to account executives when you hear about them

Qualifications

Required

• 7+ years managing projects in professional services or technology consulting
• A track record delivering complex cloud migration or modernization projects across several concurrent workstreams, on schedule and on budget
• Comfortable presenting to and negotiating with senior customer executives
• Business development experience: spotting opportunities, contributing to proposals, and helping grow accounts
• Strong with project management tooling, ideally Jira and FinancialForce
• Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, computer science, or a related field
• AWS certification (Cloud Practitioner or higher)
• PMP or an equivalent project management certification

Nice to Have

• Agile certifications such as PMI-ACP or Scrum Alliance CEC
• AWS certifications beyond Cloud Practitioner
