CS Construction is seeking an experiencedProject Engineer or Assistant Project Managerto join our commercial construction team. This position is ideal for someone who has already developed a strong foundation in project engineering and is ready to take on greater responsibility while continuing to grow toward a Project Manager role.
The successful candidate will work closely with our Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, and clients to support the successful delivery of commercial construction projects. This role requires someone who is organized, proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Project Manager with the planning, coordination, and execution of commercial construction projects
- Assist with subcontractor bidding, scope review, contract preparation, and project buyout
- Manage submittals, requests for information, change documentation, and project correspondence
- Track project costs, commitments, change orders, and budget updates
- Maintain current project documents, logs, meeting minutes, and administrative records
- Coordinate with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and field leadership
- Assist with project schedules, procurement tracking, and long-lead material coordination
- Participate in project meetings and follow through on assigned action items
- Help identify and resolve potential schedule, budget, or coordination concerns before they affect the project
- Support project closeout, punch-list completion, warranties, and turnover documentation
- Develop a thorough understanding of project plans, specifications, contracts, and overall scope
Required Experience and Qualifications
- Direct experience working as a Project Engineer, Assistant Project Manager, or in a comparable role for a commercial general contractor
- Working knowledge of commercial construction processes, project documentation, and subcontractor coordination
- Strong organizational, communication, and follow-through skills
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and deadlines with limited oversight
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software
- Strong professional judgment and a team-oriented approach
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Engineering Management, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field
- Experience supporting multifamily, apartment, or other large residential construction projects
- Experience with Procore, Sage 100 Contractor, Bluebeam, or similar construction software
- Prior involvement with project buyout, cost management, change management, and scheduling
