Job Description

DPR Construction is seeking a senior project engineer with a minimum of 5 years of commercial construction experience. The role focuses on commercial projects in the core markets of advanced technology, commercial, healthcare, higher education, and life sciences.

Responsibilities

  • Apply DPR’s environmental health and safety plan to maintain injury‑free environments, including performing weekly safety audits.
  • Mentor, develop, and train team members for fast‑paced growth.
  • Manage other project engineer team members, organizing duties of engineers, field office coordinators, project accountants, and other staff.
  • Ensure understanding and enforcement of contracts between DPR and subcontractors, and between DPR and the owner.
  • Assist the superintendent and project manager with the implementation of DPR policies and project execution.
  • Provide direction, prioritization, and performance feedback to staff.
  • Participate in trainings and company meetings to facilitate individual and company growth.
  • Organize and electronically archive project files for easy access by the project team.
  • Prepare, monitor, and update project schedules in coordination with the superintendent.
  • Prepare, maintain, and implement various document control entities such as daily reports, material procurement logs, submittal logs, as‑built drawings, testing and inspection logs, RFI logs, and change order logs.
  • Distribute new drawings, changes, approved submittals, RFI responses, and other project information to all affected parties.
  • Identify, assemble, negotiate, and distribute change orders to both the owner and subcontractors.
  • Prepare agendas, documents, meeting minutes, and actions for meetings including owner‑architect‑contractor meetings, subcontractor coordination meetings, safety meetings, and staff meetings.
  • Participate in project cost control, maintain internal records, and work with subcontractors to ensure changes are paid.
  • Prepare owner billing by assembling DPR costs, reviewing subcontractor invoices, and organizing documents in accordance with the owner’s requirements.

Qualifications

  • Flexible, detail‑oriented team player who can manage multiple tasks, produce quality work, and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Organized approach with the ability to adapt and adjust to current project needs.
  • Detailed knowledge of assigned project scopes with 100% hands‑on participation.
  • Desire to seek out and resolve construction problems and conflicts during design and construction phases.
  • Goal‑oriented approach to promptly coordinate and resolve project issues within the team.
  • Excellent listening, strong communication skills, and ability to identify and resolve complex issues.
  • Effective participation in a team environment.
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, project‑management software (CMiC, Prolog or similar), scheduling software (Primavera or similar), and BIM software (AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks or similar).
  • 5+ years of experience as a project engineer, preferably within DPR’s core markets.
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, or related field.
  • Strong work ethic, can‑do attitude, and passion for construction.

Compensation & Benefits

This position is salaried. Anticipated starting pay range: $100,000.00 – $125,000.00.
