Senior Project Engineer or Architect – Building Science & Forensics

Global Recruiters of Buckhead is conducting an exclusive executive search for a technical authority to step into a leadership seat at a premier architectural, engineering, and building science firm in Central Texas.

Our client provides expert guidance for high-stakes commercial, institutional, and educational facilities, specializing in roofing, exterior walls, and waterproofing.

Pay and Compensation

Austin, TX (Hybrid to Fully Remote) | $150,000 – $180,000 + Up to 30% Bonus

The Mission: Technical Leadership & Project Lifecycle

As the Senior Project Engineer or Architect, the successful candidate will serve as the firm’s technical heartbeat, overseeing the full lifecycle of complex projects and ensuring a legacy of structural integrity.

  • Mentorship & Supervision: Lead and train a dedicated team of Senior Project Managers and PMs to ensure technical excellence across all deliverables.
  • Forensic Investigations: Supervise investigative surveys of roofing, glazing, and waterproofing components to identify deterioration and water infiltration. Review and approve comprehensive reports featuring technical recommendations and cost estimates.
  • Peer Reviews: Review drawings and specifications for new construction projects via redline markups. Lead high-level meetings with clients to discuss comments and coordinate action items.
  • Engineering & Architectural Design: Coordinate and lead the generation of building envelope plans, elevations, and details. Generate and review technical specifications in Microsoft Word.
  • Bidding & Construction Phase: Direct bid-phase assistance, including pre-bid meetings. Provide elite construction supervision, leading progress meetings and generating site observation reports.
  • Field Performance Testing: Lead meetings to discuss expectations and results of field performance testing related to the building envelope, while supervising the teams performing the testing.

The Standard: Qualifications of an Expert

To be considered for this leadership position, candidates must reflect a high degree of technical precision and leadership readiness:

Professional Credentials & Education

  • Desired Licensure: Professional Engineer (PE) or Registered Architect (RA) is highly preferred; however, candidates with an exceptional technical background and equivalent industry experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Experience: A minimum of seven (7) years of dedicated building envelope consulting experience.
  • Education: A 4-year Bachelor’s degree in architectural engineering, engineering, or a construction-related field.
  • Software Mastery: High proficiency with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and the Microsoft Office Suite.

Technical Track Record

  • Experience acting as the primary point of contact for new construction peer reviews.
  • Experience serving as the lead designer for roof replacements and window/wall repair projects.
  • Proven success in providing high-quality construction phase project management.

Preferred Certifications (Optional but Encouraged)

  • IIBEC Registered Roof Consultant (RRC) or Observer (RRO)
  • IIBEC Registered Exterior Wall Consultant (REWC) or Observer (REWO)
  • IIBEC Registered Waterproofing Consultant (RWC) or Observer (RWO)
