We're building one of the first off grid power plants for data centers, powered entirely by renewable technologies. We believe AI must be built in the US for the benefit of all people, and that means power has to be fast, clean, and scalable. We are singularly focused on delivering gigawatt scale power faster than anyone else, by rethinking every layer of the stack, from racking systems to power electronics to dispatch algorithms to on site construction.
This is your chance to leave your mark on civilization scale energy infrastructure.
About the Role
We build fully islanded, behind the meter microgrids (solar, battery storage, and gas peakers) that power AI data centers in West Texas, at record speed. As Senior Project Engineer, you\'ll own the technical execution of our deployments in the field, taking designs from our engineering team all the way through procurement, construction, commissioning, and energization to commercial operation.
You're the owner side technical authority on site: the person holding the Engineer of Record, the EPC, and OEM vendors accountable for scope, schedule, and quality. You report to the Project Director, and you own the answer to one question: is the plant getting built right, and on time?
This is the execution seat. Engineering sets the design; you make it real, on the ground, under aggressive timelines, on a continuous high density IT load with no utility behind it.
What You'll Do
- Own the full technical arc of each deployment, from early design through commissioning and commercial operation
- Lead coordination of 30%, 60%, 90%, and IFC engineering packages across engineering firms, OEMs, offtaker, and owner\'s engineers
- Build technical scopes of work, deliverables, and RACI matrices (plus reusable templates) for LNTP, EPC, and owner\'s engineering efforts
- Develop and maintain the project design basis, standard specifications, and a lessons learned repository that carries forward into every future deployment
- Support major equipment selection for battery storage systems, PV inverters, MV switchgear, and balance of plant; review vendor proposals and support contract execution
- Review project estimates against the design basis and flag misalignments before they become change orders
- Support technical due diligence with Independent Engineers for project financing
- Drive the islanded commissioning and energization sequence, including battery storage first grid forming bring up, FAT/SAT, site energization, and acceptance testing
- Hold the Engineer of Record and EPC accountable to scope, schedule, and quality; review EPC contracts, equipment specs, studies, and IFC drawings
- Coordinate procurement logistics and on site sequencing across inverter skids, battery storage, MV switchgear, and balance of plant
- Track and recover schedule against COD, surfacing and resolving risk early
- Run field troubleshooting and bring up at the pilot and across the program
- Enforce site safety and quality throughout construction and commissioning
What You Bring
- BS in electrical, mechanical, or related engineering, or equivalent field experience
- 7+ years delivering utility scale solar, battery storage, power generation, or large infrastructure projects
- Hands on ownership of construction and commissioning through COD on at least one project
- Ability to read and hold parties to EPC contracts, equipment specs, study reports, and IFC drawings
- Working knowledge of NEC, NESC, IEEE, and NFPA standards as they relate to PV, battery storage, and MV/HV engineering
- Exposure to MV and HV substation engineering
- Strong schedule, scope, and milestone management under aggressive timelines
- Willingness to be on site in West Texas as deployments require
- Extreme attention to detail with a bias for speed and rapid iteration
