Employment Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire

Salary: $90,000 – $100,000 annually

A growing construction company is seeking a Senior Project Accountant to join its accounting team. This position will manage the financial accounting for assigned projects, partner closely with Project Managers, and provide support and guidance to other Project Accountants.

Responsibilities

• Manage project accounting activities from initial setup through project completion.
• Prepare and analyze WIP schedules, job costs, revenue recognition, forecasts, and project variances.
• Partner with Project Managers to monitor project financial performance and resolve accounting issues.
• Support month-end close, including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and project reporting.
• Review the work of Project Accountants and assist with training and onboarding.
• Research discrepancies and resolve complex project accounting matters.
• Help develop and implement accounting processes related to a recent acquisition.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows, controls, reporting, and efficiency.
• Support additional accounting and process-improvement initiatives as the company grows.

Qualifications

• Project accounting experience required.
• Construction project accounting experience preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
• Working knowledge of WIP accounting and job costing.
• Experience with month-end close and financial reporting.
• Ability to partner effectively with Project Managers and operational teams.
• Experience training, mentoring, or reviewing the work of accounting staff.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and process-improvement skills.
