Comcate builds CRM and citizen engagement software for local government agencies.

We're bringing on a fractional/contract Strategic Product Manager to validate and sharpen our CRM product positioning — turning a working hypothesis into an evidence-backed direction, not starting from a blank page.

About the Role

What you'll do:

• Pressure-test our current CRM positioning against real customer evidence — confirm what's right, flag what's wrong, and identify which opportunities are worth pursuing and how.
• Run direct customer and prospect conversations to surface demand that doesn't show up in standard market data (e.g., staff time lost to manual workarounds).
• Deliver a market-backed assessment covering opportunity size, product gaps, and go-to-market fit — a decision-ready recommendation, not a slide deck or a written report to hand off and walk away from.
• Translate validated positioning into assets our sales and marketing teams can actually use.

Responsibilities

• Product management experience in an early-stage, unstructured govtech or public-sector SaaS environment — you’ve worked directly with founders and owned ambiguous, zero-to-one problems.
• Comfort forming independent judgment from partial evidence, not just executing a pre-defined research plan.
• Direct, hands-on customer discovery experience — this is not a research-assistant or analyst role.
• Prior local government, civic tech, or public-sector domain exposure is a strong plus, though not required if your discovery instincts are strong.

• Demonstrate experience developing a product positioning and strategy for a SaaS Company
• Active engagement wtih prospects and users to understand the customer needs

Engagement details:

• Contract/fractional, approximately 15–25 hours per week to start.
• Initial 90-day engagement scoped around a specific deliverable, with the possibility of extending based on results.
• Remote.
• Rate: competitive, commensurate with experience.
