Senior Process Engineer (Chemical / Industrial Design)
We are seeking a Senior Process Engineer to join a collaborative, high‑performing consulting engineering team supporting specialty chemical and industrial manufacturing projects. This role is ideal for a technically strong process engineer who can step up, take ownership, and confidently engage with clients while delivering complex, high‑quality process designs.
About the Team
You’ll be joining a 14‑person process engineering group. The group is known for being adaptable and solution‑oriented - true “chameleons” who flex to meet client needs, even when requirements evolve or preferences are strong.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and support the planning and design phases of process equipment, systems, and facilities for industrial and specialty chemical clients
- Drive the technical success of projects, ensuring process designs align with client goals, plant operations, and regulatory requirements
- Design process systems ranging from straightforward to highly complex
- Develop and review core process deliverables, including:
- Heat and material balances
- Hydraulic calculations
- PFDs and P&IDs
- Process equipment and instrumentation selection
- Piping material selection
- Process safety evaluations and relief device studies
- Work closely with multi‑disciplinary teams (mechanical, electrical, structural, controls) and provide clear technical direction and documentation to Project Engineers
- Apply a Stage‑Gate project delivery approach, understanding both how plants operate and how projects are executed
- Partner directly with clients, helping define what they want to do and how to do it—while offering alternative solutions when appropriate
- Participate in field verifications, site observations, RFI responses, and submittal reviews
What We’re Looking For
- BS in Chemical Engineering (Mechanical Engineering considered with strong process experience)
- PE license
- 5+ years of consulting engineering experience, with a focus on industrial and specialty chemical process design
- Prior experience working directly for a manufacturer is highly valued, but consulting experience is required
- Proficiency with AutoCAD; familiarity with Navisworks (limited Revit exposure)
- Experience with tools such as AFT Fathom, Arrow, and Excel
- Strong communicator who can sit down with clients, build trust, and take ownership of solutions
- A proactive mindset with the ability and desire to step up, lead technically, and bring vision to projects
