Overview
Senior Principal Systems Engineer – Deputy technical lead for advanced EOIR sensor systems and AI/ML algorithm development. 100% on-site in Linthicum, MD.
Relocation assistance may be available. Required travel up to 10% of the time. Secret clearance required.
Responsibilities
- Lead technical execution of R&D programs in coordination with the algorithm architect.
- Guide a diverse team of physicists, signal processing engineers, and AI/ML engineers in developing novel EOIR sensor capabilities and evaluating performance.
- Mentor and develop junior team members.
- Develop, integrate, test, and deploy novel EOIR‑centric algorithms.
- Quantify system performance metrics and develop performance models.
- Understand data quality and artifact impacts and represent system performance in functional and analytical models.
Qualifications
- Education and experience: Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of experience, Master’s with 6 years, or Ph.D. with 4 years in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics or related fields; or 4 additional years of experience may replace a degree.
- U.S. citizenship.
- Current active U.S. Government Secret clearance; ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP).
- Experience leading junior and/or peer team members.
- Experience in technical computing languages such as Python or MATLAB.
- Experience with airborne and/or space‑based EOIR sensors.
- Knowledge of physics‑based detection methods for various phenomenologies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced STEM degree.
- Experience writing technical proposals.
- Experience acting as principal investigator or team lead for R&D programs.
- Experience developing and executing internal research and development projects.
- Current Top Secret clearance, SAP access, and/or SCI access.
- Strong communication skills for internal and external audiences.
