Job Overview
The Senior Principal Marine Operations Specialist plays a pivotal role in both project execution and commercial bidding activities by providing expert support and leadership. The position involves overseeing pipeline welding qualification strategies, material selection and engineering, front-end procurement activities, ensuring execution readiness, and supporting fabrication, marine, and offshore operations.
Responsibilities
- Supporting tendering, estimating, and bid evaluations
- Ensuring compliance with codes, standards, and certifying authority requirements
- Driving innovation in production processes, automation, and materials
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders
- Providing leadership and technical support to operations and project management teams
- Reviewing, approving, and managing procedures in coordination with clients and certifying authorities
- Selecting materials, participating in vendor audits and selection, supporting project execution until completion
- Supporting tendering activities, including cost estimation, productivity analysis, and technical reviews
- Providing execution support across fabrication, marine, and offshore phases, including performance monitoring and quality assurance
- Leading troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and resolution of production and material issues
- Driving development and implementation of mechanized/automated production and participating in R&D initiatives
- Managing training programs, competency development, and mentoring of marine personnel
- Ensuring compliance with QHSES requirements and promoting safe working practices
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Engineering preferably metallurgy or mechanical, or related field
- Professional certification such as EWE/IWE, CEng, PE, or equivalent (preferred)
- Minimum 20+ years of experience in offshore and/or onshore pipeline production
- Strong knowledge of procedures, qualification processes, and inspection standards
- Solid understanding of QHSE requirements related to a production environment
- Proven experience in project planning, execution, and compliance management
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and complex project requirements
