Infinity Miles is seeking a Senior Magnetics Engineer to lead the design and development of advanced magnetic components for our commercial SST platform. This role will play a critical part in advancing next-generation power conversion products from prototype through commercial deployment.
Position Overview
The Senior/Principal Magnetics Engineer will be responsible for the design, analysis, testing, and validation of high-power transformers, inductors, and medium-voltage insulation systems. This role will play a critical part in advancing Infinity Miles' next-generation power conversion products from prototype through commercial deployment.
Preferred Qualifications
- M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Electromagnetics, Power Electronics, Physics, or related field
- 5+ years of experience designing transformers, inductors, or magnetic components
- Strong understanding of magnetic materials, core losses, winding techniques, and thermal management
- Experience with medium-voltage insulation systems and high-voltage design practices
- Familiarity with partial discharge testing, dielectric design, insulation coordination, and reliability validation
- Experience using electromagnetic simulation tools such as ANSYS Maxwell, JMAG, FEMM, or equivalent
- Hands‑on experience with laboratory testing and prototype validation
Responsibilities
- Design and develop high-power transformers and inductors for medium-voltage power conversion systems
- Optimize magnetic designs for efficiency, thermal performance, power density, manufacturability, and cost
- Develop winding structures, insulation systems, and packaging solutions for medium-voltage applications
- Perform magnetic, thermal, and electrical analysis using simulation tools
- Lead testing and validation activities including inductance, leakage inductance, losses, thermal performance, and insulation verification
- Support partial discharge, hipot, impulse, and environmental qualification testing
- Work closely with power electronics, controls, mechanical, manufacturing, and test engineering teams
- Support supplier engagement and qualification activities for magnetic components and materials
