Senior Principal Firmware Engineer – Coherent Optical Modules & Embedded Systems

Summary

Seeking a Senior Principal Firmware Engineer with deep expertise in coherent optical modules, embedded firmware, and SoC-based platforms. This individual contributor role will lead firmware architecture, development, integration, and release for next‑generation optical connectivity solutions, including coherent optics and co‑packaged optics (CPO).

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, design, and develop embedded firmware for coherent optical modules and related platforms.
• Lead firmware bring‑up, validation, debugging, and production release activities.
• Develop bootloaders, firmware upgrade mechanisms, hardware abstraction layers, and control frameworks.
• Collaborate with hardware, DSP, validation, and manufacturing teams to resolve system‑level issues.
• Drive firmware platform evolution, development processes, and technical best practices.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship across engineering teams.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of embedded firmware/software development experience.
• Strong expertise in coherent optical modules (400ZR, 800ZR, or similar) and CMIS‑related standards.
• Experience with SoC‑based embedded systems, MCU/DSP architectures, and firmware lifecycle management.
• Proficiency in C/C++ and Python.
• Strong hardware‑software debugging, validation, and production support experience.
• Experience with version control, issue tracking, and CI/CD development environments.

Preferred

• Background in optical networking, optical modules, or optical semiconductors.
• Experience with coherent DSP platforms, calibration/control algorithms, and Co‑Packaged Optics (CPO).
