Chief EngineerRaytheon is seeking a Chief Engineer to lead contract research and development programs focused on maturing technology into viable products for the war fighter. This Chief Engineer position is under our Advanced Electro-Optics portfolio, located onsite in McKinney, TX.What You Will Do:Engineering program execution and technical leadership for Advanced Electro-Optics (EO) programs in the Advanced Tactical Programs area from product concept, proposal development, through build and test.Facilitating communications between the external customers, internal Raytheon leadership, and the program's engineering team.Creation, analysis, and forecasting of program staffing, risk/opportunity management, EVMS, IPT coordination, subcontracts management, and issue management.Managing program technical baseline through appropriate documentation, use of internal and independent reviews, and chairing of Engineering Review Board.Supporting new business activities, leading technical response to requests for information (RFIs) and requests for proposal (RFPs).Support business technical roadmaps and provide technical mentoring.Support the continuous process improvement efforts of Engineering.Qualification You Must Have:Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience.Experience in EO system operational concepts, functional and operational gap analysis, proposal development, Design to Cost / Design to Specification concepts, analysis & trade studies, and link budgets & margins.Experience with EO systems and relevant experience with system integration, test, verification and validation.Experience communicating and presenting complex topics across all organizational levels and customers.Experience with team leadership, program staffing, EVMS, risk management, subcontract management, and quality controls (process tailoring, audit, etc.)Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date.
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.Qualifications We Prefer:Advanced understanding of EO hardware, firmware, and software development with ability to troubleshoot EO hardware & software and make recommendations on solutions.Practical knowledge of EOIR system development related engineering disciplines; Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering (Analog, Power/P-Spice, digital), Mechanical Engineering (structural, thermal, drawings), Software Engineering (Structured Analysis, Object Oriented, coding), Reliability, Operational, etc.Experience with microfabrication and modeling of microfabricated devices – MEMS and photonics.Understanding of optical material properties and their measurement.Experience testing optical systems including lasers.Proposal development leadership and technical volume leadership.What We Offer:Our values drive our actions, behaviors, and performance with a vision for a safer, more connected world.
