Onsite Full Time Corporate Finance & Strategic Planning

NBIM’s Equity Enhanced Indexing department seeks an experienced investment professional for our North American team managing our broad equity exposure in the US and Canada. This is a rare opportunity to generate significant excess return in an ambitious and collaborative environment combining teamwork and autonomy. The position is based in New York and reports to the Global Co-Heads of Equity Enhanced Indexing. Some travel will be required.

Duties and Responsibilities

What you will do

  • Generate excess return relative to our benchmark through systematic portfolio management of our North American equity portfolio.
  • Apply data-driven investment strategies, including index rebalancing, corporate events and relative value opportunities—continuously refining your approach based on performance analytics.
  • Systematically manage risk to leverage NBIM’s structural advantages, including scale, a long investment horizon and a broad/deep inventory.
  • Optimize outcomes from corporate actions and capital market events.
  • Manage broad equity market exposure, portfolio flows and benchmark dynamics, while maintaining a low tracking error, ensuring robust diversification and low transaction costs.
  • Help the team grow and develop by contributing investment ideas, refining processes, and supporting research and team development that strengthens performance across the North American portfolio.
  • Engage in continuous investment dialogue with colleagues across the team and globally—sharing views, challenging assumptions, and learning from how others approach the market.
  • Collaborate across functions including trading, allocation, asset servicing, and technology to make the most of NBIM’s platform.

Who you are

You are an experienced portfolio manager, evidence-driven, intellectually curious, and motivated by the craft of generating excess return. You have considered views, hold them with appropriate humility, and update them when the evidence shifts. You are emotionally intelligent and empathetic, comfortable in a team where influence comes through expertise rather than formal authority, and you bring out the best in colleagues by engaging seriously with their work.

Qualifications

What you need

  • Proven track record generating sustainable excess return in broad equity portfolio management, preferably within collaborative team environments.
  • Familiarity with index methodology (preferably FTSE), thorough understanding of market dynamics, and knowledge of relevant regulation.
  • Sharp analytical skills and sound judgement.
  • Solid expertise in portfolio construction, risk management and transaction cost reduction.
  • Preferably experience with data analysis, automation and AI applications for portfolio management.
  • High personal integrity and ability to obtain mandatory security clearance for employment with Norges Bank (Central Bank of Norway).
  • Excellent written and spoken English.

Norges Bank Investment Management is committed to ensuring Equal Opportunities for all employees.
