Senior ParalegalAmentum is seeking a Senior Paralegal to join our dynamic team to support the Department of Justice (DOJ) in Washington, DC. This role will work directly with trial attorneys, investigators, and other staff at the Affirmative Litigation Section of the Enforcement and Affirmative Litigation Branch.Responsibilities include:Conduct factual and legal research in legal and non-legal reference sources and databasesUtilizes the court's electronic case filing program and apply knowledge of local court rules and procedures for preparing and filing legal documentsReview and cite check briefs and other court filings according to Bluebook standardsHigh level of proficiency with computer software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPointReview, process, and prepare litigation documents covering legal issues as a case progresses through administrative or judicial litigationDraft correspondence, pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documentsProvide technical support to attorneys during deposition and trialEnsure that pleadings, exhibits, trial notebooks, and similar materials are prepared and ready for trial and evidentiary hearingsPrepare and organize evidence for production in discovery and for use in trialCode and index discovery documents using legal case management softwareConduct document searches, organizes documents, conducts first level document review, and coordinates document production using such systemsRetrieve cases and search legal reference files for information and dates required. Verify citations and legal references in prepared documentsEstablish and maintain legal references filesIndexes, summarizes, and compiles substantive information on statutes, legislation, and specific subjectsManage paper and electronic documents and evidence, correspondence, briefs, witness interviews, and other documentary materialsPrepare reports summarizing the case status, legal and factual background, the basis of the complaint, legal issues presented, and relevant case lawPrepare summaries of witness interviews, depositions, and meetings with counselResponsibility for closing out cases and archiving evidence and work product.Job Requirements:Requires a Paralegal Certificate, or JD, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school, having completed at least one year of study, or an equivalent level of legal training or experience; or an equivalent level of education may be substituted.At least three years of litigation paralegal experience or project experience is required; trial experience preferred.Candidates who have served on trial teams for at least five years are preferred.Requires sound working knowledge of federal and state court system, legal research procedures, and legal research resources.Excellent written and oral communication skills and thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.Must have hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, imaging, and hardware systems.Role also requires hands-on familiarity with ESI tools such as Relativity, and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources.Ability to consistently deliver highest quality work under extreme pressure will be very important.Willingness to learn and be part of a team.Excellent proofreading, time-management, and written and verbal communication skillsExcellent interpersonal skillsAttention to detail; organized; skilled at multitaskingMust be able to obtain and maintain MRPT facility credentials/authorization.

Note: US Citizenship is required for MRPT facility credentials/authorization at this work location.Hiring hourly rate of pay: $31.69 (Hourly rate set by SCA)This position is regulated by the Department of Labor (DOL) as a Service Contract Act (SCA) contract. The DOL regulates the minimum hourly rate of pay, holiday and vacation leave benefits, and Health and Welfare (H&W) money.Employees will earn H&W dollars per eligible hour (including vacation and holiday up to 40 hours/week). H&W monies are used to offset the employer's cost of benefits the employee elects into and/or utilizes.

Any remaining health and welfare monies after all applicable deductions would be cashed out to the employee on a 1 pay period lag.This is an hourly, overtime-eligible position that falls under the Service Contract Act (SCA). In accordance with the Health and Welfare provisions of the SCA, and in addition to your base hourly rate, you may be eligible to receive an additional health and welfare payment for each hour you work to ensure compliance with the minimums set forth by the act.
