Oracle Exadata Database Administrator
Pay Range: $63.70hr - $68.70hr
Requirement/Must Have:
- Deep experience with Oracle Exadata in on-premises or cloud environments, including OCI or
- Strong Oracle Database administration experience with versions 11g, 12c, 19c, and above.
- Expertise in RAC, ASM, Data Guard, patching, backup and recovery, and performance tuning.
- Experience executing and supporting Oracle database migrations from VM-based or traditional environments to Exadata, including cutover planning and validation.
- Strong understanding of Oracle client connectivity, including JDBC, ODP.NET, OCI clients, TNS, DNS-based redirection, and connection string behavior.
- Ability to support application teams during migrations, including connectivity validation, performance verification, and post-migration troubleshooting.
- Experience working with enterprise applications such as Pega, portals, and middleware platforms that depend on Oracle databases.
- Experience supporting production migrations, including change management, outage coordination, and escalation handling.
- Familiarity with enterprise monitoring, logging, performance baselining, and post-migration validation checks.
- Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of experience performing full data management duties, including migration and continuous integration and delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Support large-scale Oracle database migrations from traditional or VM-based environments to Oracle Exadata platforms.
- Participate in pre-migration planning, migration execution, cutover coordination, and post-migration validation.
- Provide operational support for Oracle Exadata environments, including performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization.
- Manage Oracle Database administration tasks, including RAC, ASM, Data Guard, patching, backup, recovery, and performance tuning.
- Validate and troubleshoot Oracle client and application connectivity during and after migration events.
- Work closely with application teams to ensure connectivity, performance, and functional validation post-migration.
- Partner with DBA, infrastructure, and application teams throughout pre-migration preparation, migration windows, and post-cutover stabilization.
- Support production migration activities, including change management processes, outage planning, and escalation handling.
- Perform performance baselining, monitoring, logging review, and post-migration system validation in enterprise environments.
Skills:
- Expert knowledge of Oracle databases and related enterprise database technologies.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills for working with analysts, developers, testers, and project managers.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Advanced knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL).
- Knowledge of DB2, MS SQL Server, and similar database platforms is preferred.
Qualification and Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required in addition to the required experience.
