Location: Irving, TX 75039 (hybrid 4 days onsite, 1 day remote)

Job Summary
Vaco seeks a Senior Network Engineer (Fortinet/Cisco) for direct‑hire at Irving, TX (onsite five days per week). The engineer will lead integration of acquired networks into the enterprise “golden configuration” during the M&A process. Responsibilities include design, implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of LAN/WAN, wireless, data‑center networks and related security infrastructure. The role also involves capacity planning, documentation, mentoring, project leadership, and continuous process improvement.
Responsibilities
- Manage enterprise network and security infrastructure to maintain high availability, performance, and security.
- Design, implement, and troubleshoot LAN‑WAN, wireless, and data‑center connectivity.
- Lead migration and standardization of acquired networks into a unified golden configuration using Cisco (Nexus 7k/9k/Catalyst) and Fortinet (FortiGate/SD‑WAN/FortiManager) platforms.
- Resolve escalated technical issues and manage operational incidents.
- Perform capacity planning, performance monitoring, and bottleneck resolution.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation, diagrams, and procedural guides.
- Mentor junior engineers and coordinate cross‑functional resources.
- Drive continuous process and system improvements.
Qualifications
- 9+ years enterprise network engineering with advanced data‑center infrastructure experience.
- Hands‑on Cisco networking (Nexus 7K/9K, Catalyst) for at least 9 years.
- Fortinet security experience (FortiGate, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer, SD‑WAN) of 5+ years.
- Deep routing and network architecture expertise in BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, route redistribution, and policy‑based routing.
- Proficiency in M&A network integration, migration, and consolidation initiatives.
- Experience delivering large‑scale network migrations to a standardized golden configuration while preserving availability.
- Ability to conduct network assessments, gap analyses, migration strategies, and roadmap development.
Preferred (Not Required)
- Advanced Fortinet ecosystem knowledge (HA clusters, security fabric, FortiSwitch, FortiAP).
- Experience with Cisco ISE for network access control.
- Authoring Ruckus wireless solutions for large‑scale Wi‑Fi infrastructure.
- Data‑center monitoring/observability using SolarWinds or similar.
- Designing and supporting site‑to‑site IPsec/SSL VPN solutions.
- Post‑acquisition consolidation initiatives and mult‑site standardization.
