Network Engineer – ModernFabric & Enterprise Routing

Remote Work – 6 month contract to start; overall project is 18 months

15-25% travel to troubleshoot issues when needed onsite

CDW is seeking an experienced Network Engineer with a strong foundation in modern campus/fabric-based network architectures to support a large‑scale network modernization effort across a multi‑site healthcare enterprise. This role will work closely with internal network teams and strategic partners to lead design reviews, troubleshoot complex routing issues, and support cutover activities in mission‑critical environments.

Responsibilities

• Support campus fabric networking across multi‑site environments
• Perform L2/L3 routing & switching configuration, testing, and production cutovers
• Troubleshoot and optimize LAN/WAN performance across enterprise networks
• Assist with segmentation, VRFs, MLAG/VXLAN overlays, and resiliency enhancements
• Collaborate with network, application, and clinical technology teams
• Develop runbooks, configuration documentation, and operational playbooks for handoff

Required Skills

• Strong Layer 2 & Layer 3 networking expertise
• Advanced enterprise‑level routing and LAN troubleshooting
• Solid experience with WAN routing (BGP)
• Experience in mission‑critical environments (healthcare highly preferred)

Preferred Background (Either Path is Acceptable)

• Extreme Networks / Fabric Connect (SPBM)
• EVPN-VXLAN campus fabric (Cisco / Aruba / Juniper)
• Cisco SDA, Aruba CX Fabric , or other large‑scale campus fabric architectures
• VRF-based segmentation and MLAG/VXLAN overlays across multi‑site networks

Nice‑to‑Have Skills

• Experience with XIQ, Cisco DNA Center, Aruba Central, or similar orchestration platforms
