Job Description

AECOM is seeking a senior-level professional who combines mine engineering judgement, robust financial modelling capability, and practical cost estimating expertise to support our minerals consulting work. This role will lead and deliver due diligence cost reviews, mine closure and rehabilitation cost estimates, civil and infrastructure cost estimation inputs, and mine strategy and option evaluations. The successful candidate will be comfortable working across technical, commercial, and risk considerations and communicating findings clearly to clients and internal teams.

  • Due diligence & independent reviews: Lead or support technical and cost reviews for transactions, lender's/owner's engineer assignments, and investment decisions. Review estimating basis, assumptions, pricing, quantities, contingencies, risk allowances, and schedule drivers. Produce clear review outputs (key risks, sensitivities, recommended adjustments, and confidence levels).
  • Closure & rehabilitation cost estimating: Develop and/or review mine closure cost estimates (concept through definitive level, as required). Build estimate structures aligned to closure scopes (earthworks, demolition, water management, tailings/WRD, monitoring, revegetation, long-term care). Support closure strategy development and identify cost/risk reduction opportunities.
  • Cost estimating (CAPEX/OPEX): Prepare and/or review CAPEX and OPEX estimates for mining and mineral processing. Develop estimate deliverables: BoQ/quantity take-offs (where applicable), pricing build-ups, escalation, indirects, contractor mark-ups, contingency and risk analysis.
