Overview
SSOE is seeking a dynamic Senior Mechanical Engineer with pharmaceutical industry experience to join our Food and Consumer Products (FCP) business unit. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with clear, concise communication and knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) design, with emphasis in HVAC and utilities.
Responsibilities
- Leads and orchestrates projects by exercising sound judgment in independently assessing, selecting, and creatively adapting standard methodologies tailored for our food and beverage industry clients.
- Performs assignments with instructions as to general results; resolves problems with limited technical guidance and seeks approval from the project manager for proposed design solutions.
- Performs detailed phases of engineering work on major projects or total engineering work on projects of smaller or moderate scope.
- Analyzes mechanical, utility and HVAC systems, and provides solutions to efficiency, production and other issues.
- Works with the client and internal resources to develop project scopes, schedules and budgets.
- Crafts precise engineering and capital cost estimates to ensure project viability and cost-effectiveness.
- Devises new approaches and communicates changes to the team.
- Supervises and coordinates the work of less experienced engineers and designers and is responsible for checking drawings within the discipline.
- Participates in client contact and business development activities as needed.
- Meets with clients to define project scope, present project progress, and ensure client satisfaction.
- Develops engineering concepts and presentations.
- Coordinates work with other disciplines and keeps current on new design methods and ideas.
- Travel required. Valid driver's license required (may be waived for international assignments).
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, qualifying for licensure in your state, is essential for this position.
- PE or PE-tracked strongly preferred, ten (10) or more years of related practical experience with former employer(s) required.
- A minimum of 8 years of experience designing HVAC and mechanical utility systems, with a solid background in sanitary production environments, is ideal.
- Prior consulting experience in the pharmaceutical and/or food industry, and experience in sanitary design required.
- Proficient in MS Office and familiar with AutoCAD or other CAD programs.
- Strong communication, facilitation, and team leadership skills.
- Salary Range: $120,000 to $130,000 per year depending on location, education, experience, and any certifications directly related to the position.
