We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in commercial construction to lead the design, coordination, and execution of HVAC and mechanical systems for large-scale commercial projects. This role will work closely with architects, contractors, project managers, and clients from design through construction to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with applicable codes and standards.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design of HVAC and mechanical systems for commercial construction projects.
- Prepare and review mechanical drawings, specifications, calculations, and construction documents.
- Perform equipment sizing, HVAC load calculations, ductwork and piping design.
- Coordinate with architects, structural, electrical, plumbing, and construction teams throughout project execution.
- Review shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, and change orders.
- Conduct site visits to support construction, resolve field issues, and verify installation quality.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable building codes, ASHRAE standards, and project specifications.
- Support project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and value engineering initiatives.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
- Participate in client meetings and provide engineering support throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience with a focus on commercial construction.
- Strong experience designing commercial HVAC and mechanical systems.
- Experience supporting projects from design through construction and commissioning.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit MEP, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office.
- Experience with HVAC load calculation software such as Trane Trace or Carrier HAP is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of ASHRAE, IMC, IBC, and applicable mechanical codes.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and project coordination skills.
