A well-established engineering design firm is adding a senior mechanical engineer to its MEP practice. The role covers ground-up design/build work as well as renovation and system upgrades across an existing building portfolio, with a mix of technical production and oversight of junior staff.
Responsibilities
- Own mechanical design on assigned projects from concept through construction administration
- Run load calculations, equipment selection and sizing, pressure drop and hydraulic analysis
- Produce drawings, specifications, and design documentation across HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection scopes
- Serve as a technical resource on difficult design problems - evaluating options and landing on the most constructible, cost-effective solution
- Review the work of junior engineers and designers; provide direction, redlines, and mentorship
- Respond to contractor questions and field issues during construction, including written technical responses
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline
- 6+ years of MEP design experience in a consulting or design-build environment
- PE license, or actively pursuing
- Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and fire suppression system design and operation
- Comfortable reading and marking up mechanical and plumbing plan sets
- Clear communicator in writing and in front of clients
