Job Summary

The Senior Mechanical Engineer works in a fast‑paced, multi‑disciplined team environment. The role focuses on the design of mechanical systems for new facilities, additions, and renovation projects, providing technical leadership for construction drawings and specifications, and carrying out existing system studies and master planning. Candidates meet with clients, project teams, code officials, contractors, and others to address mechanical issues and develop effective working relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Develop HVAC system designs based on scope of work and client RFPs.
  • Provide engineering design, evaluation, and planning of mechanical systems for a variety of market types.
  • Perform load/energy calculations with software such as HAP, IES, and similar programs.
  • Conduct existing building surveys and documentation of existing HVAC systems.
  • Develop system design calculations and select equipment for use in buildings.
  • Prepare detailed design documents, reports, and studies.
  • Complete code compliance research.
  • Coordinate work with other disciplines.
  • Provide construction administration services.
  • Oversee and provide guidance to junior engineers.
  • Lead project teams and serve as the primary contact for clients.
  • Assist in the procurement of new work, including developing client relations and participating in project interviews.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • LEED certification or experience (preferred).
  • Minimum of 10 years of design experience.
  • Knowledge of HVAC system design.
  • Knowledge of process piping (a plus).
  • Understanding of codes, standards, and design guidelines.

Skills / Abilities

  • Excellent work ethic and attitude.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills; ability to plan, balance, and prioritize work.
  • Ability to lead a team and work collaboratively.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and MS Office.
  • Willingness to travel.

Salary

Base salary range $125,000 to $150,000. Pay is determined by work location and additional factors such as skills, experience, and education.
