Senior Mechanical EngineerCordoba Corporation is a leading civil engineering firm based in California. We are seeking a full-time Senior Mechanical Engineer to support Cordoba's Transportation Sector. In this position, you will be responsible for designing and supporting the implementation of mechanical systems and components for public facilities, including transit, aviation, and maintenance facilities.
You will be involved with mega design projects, ensuring that designs meet stringent industry standards and regulatory requirements. This role will report to the Project Manager and work collaboratively with other Cordoba team members.ResponsibilitiesEvaluate and report on existing building mechanical equipment and systemsDesign HVAC systems, fire suppression systems, plumbing systems, and building automation systemsConduct technical analyses, simulations, and testing to validate designs and ensure they meet performance, safety, and reliability standards.Ensure all mechanical designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies.Identify and resolve engineering challenges, providing innovative solutions to complex problems.Stay informed about relevant codes and standards for light-rail design and ensure their application in all projects.Support design staff with all engineering drawings using CAD software, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project specifications.Oversee and manage mechanical engineering tasks from concept through to implementation.Coordinate with project managers, electrical engineers, civil engineers, and other disciplines to ensure cohesive project delivery.Implement quality control processes to ensure high standards in mechanical design and manufacturing.Work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate mechanical systems with other aspects of the project's design and construction.Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers, fostering their professional growth and development.Collaborate effectively: Coordinate with team members and other design disciplines to ensure cohesive and integrated project outcomes.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related field.California Professional Engineering (PE) License, or ability to obtain within one year of hire.Extensive experience in mechanical engineering of public works maintenance facilities and shops, preferably in the rail or transportation industryExperience in Mechanical Engineering for Transit Maintenance facilitiesProficiency in CAD software, such as AutoCAD or similarStrong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skillsExcellent communication and leadership abilitiesIn-depth knowledge of transportation industry standards and regulatory requirementsProven track record of successfully collaborating, leading and delivering complex engineering projectsProject management experience is a plusPositive attitude and ability to work cooperatively with others as well as independentlyWillingness to continue to learn and grow technically and professionally within the companyOpen to utilizing and developing new technologies and approaches for performing workPreferred:Rail experience in this area is preferred but not required.Salary Range: $200,000 - $230,000 per yearWork Environment: Remote (with travel considered depending on qualifications and experience)Location: Los Angeles, CA/Orange County, CA
