Senior Mechanical Engineer Project ManagerRESPEC seeks an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer Project Manager to support our energy, wastewater, mining, and industrial projects.The Senior Mechanical Engineer Project Manager leads the planning, design, and execution of complex mechanical engineering projects from proposal through final design, construction, and closeout. This role applies advanced engineering judgment to develop innovative, practical solutions while ensuring technical excellence, quality control, and compliance with applicable codes and standards. The position is responsible for defining project scope, budgets, schedules, and staffing plans; coordinating multidisciplinary teams; and providing technical leadership and mentorship to engineering staff. In addition to overseeing design and construction activities, this role serves as a key client interface, supports business development and proposal efforts, and contributes to RESPEC's growth through technical expertise, collaboration, and strategic problem-solving. Primary responsibilities include:Independently evaluate, select and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria on complex projectsPlan, schedule, conduct and/or coordinate detailed phases of project workComplete projects from proposal to final design, including delegating work tasks to engineering and drafting staffMake design recommendations, adaptations, and modificationsProvide final technical review and quality control of team work productDevelop project scope, budget, timeline and staff utilization in proposal preparation, particularly with respect to technical effortsPerform calculations using engineering formulas and skillsIndependently complete design work using computer-aided or manual drafting techniques or be able to delegate such work to staff engineers and designersPrepare reports and correspondence concerning the direction of assigned projectsServe as a technical advisor and mentor to junior level project team membersDevise new approaches to problems encounteredParticipate in marketing, sales, and business development effortsPerform site assessments and construction oversightWe do not accept unsolicited resumes from third-party recruitersQualificationsRequired:Bachelor of science in mechanical engineering10+ years of related experience in mechanical engineering with an emphasis on energy or industrial projects, including piping and equipment designWest Virginia or Pennsylvania PE required, license in other states a plusExperience in the Natural Gas or Refinery Industries or similarLeading project mechanical designCollaborating on multi-discipline projectsExcellent technical writing and communication skillsProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)Self-motivated, energetic, and able to take on new tasksStrong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a teamDetail oriented & well organized with demonstrated ability to meet deadlinesSolution focusedStrong verbal & written communication skillsDesire to learn and advance technical skills and understandingMust possess a valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record; position requires operating a company or personal vehicle during work hours for business-related travelPreferred:Experience with 3-D and 2-D mechanical draftingAdditional InformationCompensation: Salary depends on experience and expertise.
