Job Summary
Senior Mechanical Engineer with power generation experience to lead design and project activities across a variety of projects. Will serve as a discipline lead or project engineer, mentoring junior staff and building project‑management skills. Experience needed in new plant design, retrofits, upgrades, and other energy infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities
- Act as a technical liaison with clients and coordinate technical efforts within discipline areas.
- Participate in mechanical design development from conceptual through detailed design, coordinating with structural, electrical, civil, and I&C disciplines.
- Support preparation of engineering and cost estimating reports through data collection and analysis.
- Prepare and check design computations for system design, equipment and pipe sizing, and conditions of service.
- Assist in the preparation of technical specifications for equipment and material.
- Lead and mentor 2D/3D designers and less experienced engineers to develop designs and prepare drawings.
- Use design and equipment sizing software to prepare engineering and design documents.
- Perform or assist with occasional field or site visits for observations, data collection, and documentation for clients and project needs.
- Consult with construction personnel on design constructability relating to field conditions, sequencing, and scheduling.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Department Manager or Project Manager.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited four‑year college.
- 15+ years of relevant power generation design experience.
- Possess PE, or able to obtain PE within 1 year.
- Natural gas power generation experience.
Preferred Experience
- Experience designing reciprocating engine, simple cycle, combined cycle, and/or combined heat and power plants.
- Experience using Thermoflow Suite, CAESAR II, and/or Pipe‑Flo software.
