Zona Technical Engineering (Zona) continues to grow throughout Arizona and is ready to expand the team by opening a Phoenix office. They’re seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer who’s excited to play a key role in Zona’s continued success, while also growing their career as an industry leader.

This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in establishing and shaping Zona’s Phoenix operations, with the full support of an established Tucson office with an existing Phoenix-based electrical engineering presence.

What You Will Do:

  • Work with architects and project clients who are developing commercial, healthcare and medical, industrial, education, government, and municipal buildings
  • Identify client needs and develop the mechanical scope of work
  • Design, specify, and approve mechanical system plans that include methods, materials, and equipment specifications, building code compliance, and cost estimating
  • Support procurement and construction activities, and assist with field work by conducting site visits to review installations, troubleshoot, and provide solutions to issues as needed
  • Coordinate and oversee the project team, and manage the project schedule and budget
  • Mentor Engineers‑in‑Training (EIT’s), junior engineers, designers, and interns
  • Contribute to strategic growth initiatives
    • Expand the firm’s presence by identifying potential clients and MEP project opportunities in the Central Arizona market
    • Participate in industry organizations and networking events regularly
    • Support marketing efforts and project presentations
    • Contribute to the leadership team’s strategic vision by providing market insight and industry connections

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET‑accredited college
  • 6+ years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer that includes leading teams and client consultations for commercial, healthcare, education, governmental, and/or municipal building projects
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Arizona
  • Commissioning experience is a plus
  • Focused on quality, continuous improvement, and exceeding expectations with a proven ability to develop long‑term business and client relationships
  • Technically proficient in:
    • Revit, AutoCAD, Autodesk Forma, Bluebeam, Carrier Hourly Analysis Program (HAP), and MS Office
    • Arizona codes, IECC codes, and ASHRAE standards
  • Ability to travel to the Tucson office as needed to maintain a connection to Zona’s culture
