The initial contract is 6 months , with the potential for extension or conversion to a direct-hire position based on business needs and performance.

Position Summary

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support the design, development, integration, and improvement of mechanical components and systems for heavy‑day heavy-duty vehicle applications.

This is a hands-on engineering role that combines mechanical design, engineering analysis, troubleshooting, and vehicle-level integration. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical engineering background, excellent mechanical aptitude, and experience working with automotive, commercial vehicles, military vehicles, or heavy-duty equipment.

Experience with structural analysis, hydraulic systems, electrical/electromechanical systems, CAD, and project leadership is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and improve mechanical components and systems for heavy-duty vehicle applications.
  • Perform engineering calculations, investigations, analysis, and troubleshooting in accordance with established engineering standards and processes.
  • Support the integration of new and modified components into existing and new vehicle platforms.
  • Evaluate designs for performance, safety, reliability, manufacturability, cost, and compliance with technical requirements.
  • Apply analytical and mathematical methods to model system performance and optimize designs.
  • Support structural analysis and mechanical system development.
  • Work across hydraulic, electrical, and other vehicle systems to support overall vehicle integration.
  • Prepare and review engineering drawings, layouts, specifications, Bills of Material (BOMs), and other technical documentation.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to manufacturing and production teams.
  • Investigate and resolve technical issues and communicate findings, recommendations, and project status to key stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and other internal and external partners.
  • Lead projects or portions of projects ranging from limited to moderate complexity.
  • Manage multiple engineering priorities, projects, and deadlines.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, designers, and technicians.
  • Maintain project documentation related to analysis, research, design decisions, and engineering history.
  • Prepare technical reports, proposals, presentations, quotations, and other engineering documentation.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field from an accredited institution.
  • 3 years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Experience designing and developing mechanical components or systems.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of mechanical systems.
  • Ability to perform engineering calculations, analysis, troubleshooting, and problem solving.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and develop engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across engineering disciplines and with suppliers.
  • Ability to manage multiple technical priorities and deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience in automotive, commercial vehicle, military vehicle, heavy-duty equipment, or related industries.
  • Experience with structural analysis.
  • Experience with hydraulic systems.
  • Understanding of electrical systems and their integration with mechanical systems.
  • Experience using a high-level CAD system.
  • Experience with vehicle-level component and system integration.
  • Project management or technical project leadership experience.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing or production environments.
