What You Will Do

  • Perform mechanical design, development, analysis and documentation of components and assemblies in accordance with system requirements.
  • Provide support to production and suppliers during product integration.
  • Interface with the broader organization to develop design solutions and resolve technical challenges. This can include engineering managers, engineers, designers, and structural/thermal analysts, other disciplines, program management, suppliers, and external customers.
  • Work with limited supervision and meet commitments for assigned schedule, financial, and technical goals.
  • Support and participate in reviews and conduct trade studies to make sound technical decisions.
  • Apply knowledge and experience in technical problem solving and hardware development in a fast paced, team environment.
  • Mentor and guide less experienced engineers.

Qualifications

  • Experience designing and developing hardware, ranging from concept definition through detailed design and transition to production or product support.
  • Demonstrated experience in mechanical design, product development, material selection, and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with CAD design tools and associated product data management tools.
  • Experience solving technically challenging problems within aggressive timelines.
  • Requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an advanced degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Experience with design, fabrication, and integration of electronic assemblies, circuit card assemblies, structural components, equipment packaging and layout, and military defense systems.
  • CREO CAD system experience and PDM or similar product data management tools.
  • Previous experience with structural and/or thermal analysis using ANSYS, Flotherm and/or other analytical tools.
  • Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing and ASME Y14.5.
  • Demonstrated hands‑on mechanical aptitude.
  • Prior defense industry experience, designing and solving problems for high reliability systems operating within harsh military environments.
  • Working knowledge of military and commercial design, materials, and process specifications.
  • Experience diagnosing and resolving hardware issues during prototyping, production and test.
  • Experience with EVMS or other professional exposure to similar budget tracking systems.
  • ACTIVE Secret Security Clearance or higher.
  • Advanced degree in mechanical engineering.

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
