Senior Mechanical EngineerThe University of Dayton Research Institute (UDRI) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge composite materials research and development projects in a dynamic and collaborative environment. Work will be performed at a customer location in the greater Dayton-Cincinnati region.Activities aimed at proving a concept to be valid or technically feasible by the application of scientific and engineering methodologies.

Work in this family typically has the objective of demonstrating through test or analyses the performance and implementation potential of a concept. Impacts quality of own work and the work of others on the team. Executes standard operational/technical tasks typically subject to instructions and work routines.

There is latitude to rearrange the sequence to complete task/duties based on changing work situations.Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or collegeAt least 8 years composites experience with full comprehension of conceptual, or theoretical activities relating to the development, improvement, and usage of materials, coatings, and processes undertaken to build, apply, or shape the materialsKnowledge of composites engineering to a level to execute policy/strategy. May include support roles with specialized technical field of knowledge; still acquiring higher level knowledge and skillsBasic understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own workGood understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the areaExperience in polymer matrix fabrication and bondingExperience serving as a principal investigatorActive security clearanceDue to the requirements of our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be a U.S.
