We are hiring a mechanical engineering leader for a MedTech company. They are early stage, well backed, and building a complex electromechanical system that has to perform in a live clinical environment.
This is a player-coach role. You will lead and grow a small mechanical team, and you will also design, prototype and build yourself. If your last few years have been spent reviewing other people's CAD rather than opening your own, this is not the role.
What you will do:
- Own mechanical design across a low volume, high complexity product: structures, mechanisms, enclosures, integration with electronics and software
- Set the pace. This team iterates in days, not quarters. Idea, prototype, test, learn, again
- Build design-for-manufacture thinking into the team early, working with low volume manufacturing partners
- Grow and mentor a small team of mechanical and mechatronics engineers
Who you are:
- Deep hands-on electromechanical product experience, ideally on complex, highly regulated or safety-critical hardware
- Strong CAD, strong prototyping instincts, comfortable at the bench
- You have shipped physical products through fast iteration cycles. If your background is long-cycle programmes where a design change takes a quarter, this will not be a fit
- You enjoy building a function, not inheriting one
