Onsite Full Time Engineering

Our client is seeking Senior Mechanical Engineers with 5+ years of experience to serve as Responsible Engineers (REs) owning critical mechanical subsystems for their next-generation autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV/UUV) platform.

Operating with a fast-paced, first-principles engineering culture, their team designs, builds, and deploys attritable undersea systems directly for the U.S. Navy. In this role, you won't pass work off to dedicated analysts or systems engineering intermediaries—you will individually own your subsystem end-to-end from a blank sheet through CAD, analysis, prototyping, field trials, and mass production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Subsystem Ownership: Function as the Responsible Engineer for your assigned subsystem across its complete lifecycle: concept design, detailed analysis, prototyping, bench/water testing, and production handoff.
  • Full-Stack Engineering: Drive CAD modeling (NX) and run your own FEA/CFD analysis (NX Nastran, Ansys, Star-CCM+) without relying on third-party or outsourced simulation groups.
  • Rapid Prototyping & Field Testing: Hands-on fabrication, assembly, and bench testing of hardware, followed by active participation in ocean testing and sea trials.
  • Cross-Disciplinary Integration: Directly manage interfaces with electrical, firmware, and software hardware systems to ensure seamless vehicle-level integration.
  • Manufacturing & Supplier Management: Partner directly with machine shops and specialized fabricators. Validate vendor claims through first-principles physical testing rather than relying on spec sheets.

Qualifications & Background

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor of Science (BS) or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Experience: 5 to 7+ years of mechanical engineering experience taking hardware from concept through production.
  • Proven Track Record: Demonstrated experience individually architecting and delivering a complex mechanical subsystem from scratch to production.
  • CAD & Analysis Mastery: Expert-level proficiency in complex assembly management in CAD (Siemens NX strongly preferred) combined with hands-on experience performing FEA and CFD.
  • Domain Exposure: Background in tightly integrated electromechanical systems in underwater vehicles , aerospace , electric vehicles (EV) , UAVs , or robotics .
  • Submerged/Pressurized Systems: Experience designing for wet/pressurized environments, including static/dynamic sealing, corrosion prevention, and depth qualification.

Deep Expertise (Match at least one)

  • Hull/Hydrodynamics: Hydrodynamic shaping, fairing design, drag reduction, underwater stability.
  • Structures: Pressure vessels, frame integration, structural load paths, weight/buoyancy optimization.
  • Mechanisms: Underwater actuators, release mechanisms, control surfaces, deployable structures.
  • Battery Packaging: Thermal management, high-density energy storage containment, cell packaging, safety qualification.

Technical Stack & Tools

  • Simulation & Analysis: NX Nastran (FEA), Ansys Fluent, Siemens STAR-CCM+ (CFD)
