Senior Mechanical Engineer

Darwin Recruitment have partnered with an emerging autonomous maritime business to appoint a Mechanical Engineer into its growing hardware team.

This is a hands‑on role for an engineer who enjoys building real products, not just producing drawings from a distance.

You’d be supporting the development of next‑generation unmanned maritime hardware – taking ownership of mechanical design work, prototyping, test activity, and product improvement as systems move toward production.

What will you be doing?

• Own mechanical design work across hardware assemblies and integrated systems
• Build, prototype, test, and refine designs in a hands‑on environment
• Support product development from concept through to production readiness
• Work closely with manufacturing and internal engineering teams
• Improve designs for cost, reliability, and manufacturability
• Help solve practical integration and hardware performance issues

What can you bring?

• Mechanical design experience using SOLIDWORKS
• Hands‑on build and prototyping experience
• Strong understanding of DFM / DFA principles
• Experience working with machined parts, assemblies, and production‑focused designs
• Practical engineering judgement and a strong product mindset
• Comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment with evolving requirements

Desirable background

• Robotics, autonomous systems, marine, aerospace, or advanced hardware
• Electromechanical or sensor‑integrated products
• Designing for demanding or outdoor environments

Location

• On‑site | South Bay/Greater Los Angeles area
