We're looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to own mechanical design efforts from concept and prototyping through testing, assembly, and deployment. You'll collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and controls engineers to develop custom automation equipment, validate designs, and help bring new manufacturing solutions from concept to production. Essential Functions
- Designs, develops, tests, and deploys machinery and processes for automated manufacturing.
- Designs sub-systems and/or elements of automated machinery.
- Prepares design concepts and layouts for equipment and sub-assemblies; conducts design reviews with Engineering team.
- Creates drawings, documents, and bill of materials for fabrication and assembly of relevant sub-system or sub-assembly.
- Researches new technologies, software, processes, materials, and suppliers.
- Conducts tests for development processes as needed.
- Collaborates with Electrical Engineers, Control Engineers, and build team.
- Verifies correct fit and function of assemblies.
- Performs stress, thermal, and/or flow analysis using simulation tools; analyzes and interprets results.
- Collaborates with build team with hands on prototyping.
- Applies DFMA principles to execute designs.
- Performs tolerance analysis for assemblies.
- Diagnoses issues with machinery under development to determine and execute corrective action.
- Prepares design concepts and layouts for equipment and subassemblies for formal design review.
- Collaborates with management for planning activities.
- Performs other related duties and projects as business needs require at direction of management.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
- Minimum eight (8) years of experience in related field.
- Demonstrated experience designing custom factory automation equipment and machinery.
- Advanced with SolidWorks or similar computer-aided drafting (CAD) software.
- In-depth knowledge of engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
Pay Range: $135,000.00 - $175,000.00/yr
Leveling and actual compensation may vary based on skills and experience.
This role is fully onsite at our Irvine, CA campus. Remote or hybrid arrangements are not available.
